I am addicted to Google Scholar. It has found so many excellent papers related to my research! However, there is one thing for which it sucks: Bibtex export.
The Bibtex Problem in Google Scholar
To use a bibliographic entry in Bibtex from Scholar, you have to:
- click on “Cite”
- scroll down
- click on “Bibtex”
- select the whole entry (Ctrl-A)
- copy the entry (Ctrl-C)
This makes five actions.
Simpler Bibtex with a User Script
Now imagine a single button “Bibtex”, and when you click on it, it puts in the clipboard the Bibtex data of the bibliographic result. One click. One single action. Then, you can paste it wherever you want. This is direct-bibtex-in-google-scholar.
direct-bibtex-in-google-scholar.user.js is a script that adds a “Bibtex” link for every result on Google Scholar. When you click on it, it copies the bibtex entry to the clipboard. You just have to paste it in your Bibtex file.
It works with major user script managers such as in Tampermonkey and Scriptish.
To install it, first install the Tampermonkey addon for Firefox or Chrome.
Then, click on direct-bibtex-in-google-scholar.user.js and accept it.
Enjoy,
